[Event] Taiwan Digital Night · Fukuoka Edition, 4 October at Colive Fukuoka

Colive Fukuoka, Japan's largest digital nomad gathering, runs 30 September to 10 October. On 4 October, Taiwan Digital Night takes place inside it — an evening on global products, distributed teams and international careers. After Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taitung and Sapporo, this is the second edition outside Taiwan.

Fukuoka in October fills up with digital nomads from all over the world. Colive Fukuoka runs from 30 September to 10 October — the largest digital nomad gathering in Japan, drawing close to 500 participants in 2025. On the evening of 4 October, Taiwan Digital Night is holding an evening inside it. After Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taitung and Sapporo, this is the second time the series has left Taiwan.

The theme is Building Global Products & Distributed Teams: products made for a global audience, collaboration across time zones, and careers that cross borders.

How the evening works

The first hour runs as a World Cafe: three themed tables at once, with participants rotating between them. Each table opens with a concrete question so people can put their own experience side by side:

  • Digital Products: how to validate problems across markets, learn from global users, and decide what to build next
  • Distributed Teamwork: how to keep work moving across time zones and cultures — async communication, documentation, handovers, and how trust gets built
  • International Careers: how to find and grow international opportunities — portfolios, cross-cultural collaboration, and working with teams abroad

Bring a product you are working on, a problem your team is stuck on, or a question about your career. Newcomers and people in the middle of a career change are welcome.

Taiwanese food, bubble tea and snacks are planned, though the menu and catering depend on the final venue.

Why Fukuoka

Fukuoka is one of Japan’s fastest-growing startup cities: the airport is about ten minutes from the centre, the sea and the mountains are both close by, and the city’s National Strategic Special Zone status brings a startup visa and related incentives. Every October, Colive Fukuoka puts all of that on display at once — this year alongside the startup conference RAMEN TECH.

For Taiwan, this connection did not start this year. Engineer Cafe was one of the supporting partners of TDF 2026, and back in August 2025 the Hualien County Government signed a memorandum of understanding with Fukuoka’s Manabu Community; in June 2026 it took 20 local operators to Fukuoka to visit coworking spaces there.

Fukuoka this October will also carry another familiar thread: one of Colive Fukuoka’s two coliving programmes, Hoppin Fukuoka, is run by the Korean digital nomad community Hoppin — the same team that signed an MOU with Hualien in April 2026. Taiwan, Korea and Japan, in the same city in the same week.

“Internationally, and especially in the West, people’s picture of Taiwan is not very clear.” That is what the TDF organising team observed when discussing the plan for 2027. The approach is not to wait for people to come, but to walk into events that already exist and spend one evening putting Taiwan’s community, ways of working and hospitality on the table. Sapporo was the first. Fukuoka is the second.

Frequently asked questions

Can I register without joining Colive Fukuoka?
Yes. Taiwan Digital Night has its own registration link and does not require a Colive Fukuoka ticket. Colive Fukuoka participants can use a discount code for US$5 off at checkout.
How much is it? Can I pay at the door?
Early bird tickets are US$10, on sale until 12:00 JST on 4 October 2026. Tickets at the door are US$15, subject to availability on the night, so booking online is recommended.
What language is it in? Can I join without Japanese?
Mainly English; no Japanese needed. The World Cafe format is small-group conversation, which is easier to join than a one-way talk.
Is it awkward to come alone?
No. The first hour is designed so that strangers work through concrete questions together, followed by networking bingo and small-group introductions. The organisers explicitly welcome newcomers and solo attendees.
What is Taiwan Digital Night?
A community evening hosted by Taiwan Digital Fest. Previous editions took place in Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taitung; in September 2026 it travelled to Sapporo, Japan for the first time, during NoMaps. Fukuoka is the second overseas edition.
