[Event] Taiwan on the Rocks — Taiwan Digital Night at NoMaps 2026, Sapporo

NoMaps 2026 takes over central Sapporo from 23 to 27 September. On the 26th, Taiwan on the Rocks brings a Taiwanese bartender to Bar９ for a guest shift and an open evening — free to register, one drink minimum at the venue.

Every September, Sapporo turns itself into a festival. NoMaps 2026 runs 23–27 September across the city centre — fifteen categories spanning technology, entertainment and creative work, in roughly eighty venues. Last year the festival put on some 300 programmes across 86 venues, drawing just under 60,000 attendances.

On the evening of 26 September, Taiwan on the Rocks — Taiwan Digital Night takes place inside it: a Taiwanese bartender working a guest shift in Sapporo, and an open night for anyone who wants to talk over a drink.

Why hold it in Sapporo

Digital nomadism was never only about changing where you work. When Taiwanese remote workers, freelancers and creators turn up in cities around the world, they arrive carrying more than their own portfolio — a community still taking shape, a way of working, and a place worth knowing.

Taiwan Digital Night puts that on the table for one evening, in the most ordinary setting available: a bar. Taiwanese participants find each other; Japanese and international guests get it first-hand, over a cocktail rather than a panel.

The timing is deliberate. For five days Sapporo fills up with people working in technology, startups, creative industries and regional development. It is the cheapest moment of the year for Taiwan’s community to be seen.

Is Taiwan Digital Night free?
Registration is free, but each guest is asked to order at least one drink during the evening, paid at the venue. Drinks are not covered by the free registration.
Do I need a NoMaps ticket to attend?
No. Taiwan Digital Night has its own registration, linked above. NoMaps 2026 itself has a mix of free programmes and sessions requiring a pass or ticket; check the NoMaps website for anything else you want to attend.
